Objectives

  • Know number names and count sequence from 1 to 100
  • Count to tell the number of objects
  • Know numbers up to 100 in words
  • Understand numbers on number lines and charts
  • Know ordinal form of numbers up to 10.
  • Count objects in groups of 2, 5, and 10
  • Count by 2, 5 and 10 and recognize skip-counting number patterns
  • Understand, recognize and correlate repeating patterns of numbers, letters and objects
Unit 1: Basic counting up to 100

Students learn to count up to 100 using pictures. They develop skills to count forward and backward and to recognize even and odd numbers.

Unit 2: Number line and hundreds chart

Students use the number line and hundreds chart as models to further improve their abilities to count.

Unit 3: Express numbers in words, Roman numerals, and ordinality

Students learn to express numbers in words and also represent them with Roman numerals. They also learn to describe the position of an object in a given ordering.

Unit 4: Skip-counting, sequences and patterns

Students learn to skip-count by 2s, 5s and 10s. They apply skip-counting to solve problems of sequences involving numbers and patterns. The skills mastered here will form the basis for multiplication.
